East Coast Skatepark Update

Here's what you guys have all been waiting for. We've been very fortunate that we were invited to the East Coast Skatepark to take a look around and also snap some pictures for you guys. The skatepark and bowls are complete except for the landscaping that needs to be done. The park is not yet open so please do not attempt to sneak in. That is considered traspassing and the person in charge will call the police. So, look at pictures, dream about it, drool about it, but leave it till the official opening before heading in. According to NParks, the official opening for the skatepark is in June.

The bowl is 13 feet deep. The bottom of the bowl is where the cement colour is slightly different. Uncle Eddie is sitting down,so imagine how deep the bowl is.

In case you're wondering, that's 12 steps.
We know many people will be excited to share the photos but if you are gonna rip the pictures off the blog, give credit where it is due.

LG Inline Street Final Results

Jenna Downing & Franky Morales top LG Action Sports World Championships

The LG Action Sports Championship is the world's premiere Inline Skate showcase, and two new champions emerged this year.

British skater Jenna Downing came out on top in the women's contest with her Run 1 score of 87.50 beating out Fallon Heffernan (78.75), 2004 champ Fabiola da Silva (76.00), and Chynna Weierstall (57.00) in the Women's Street Finals.

"I feel absolutely amazing and on top of the world," says Downing. She won the silver medal in 2007 and says she made it her mission to take the next step up the podium this year. "To be the world champion for 2008 was one of my main aims for this year, so I'm just thrilled."

Competition got fierce in the men's contest too, with Franky Morales claiming the top spot, French skater Stephane Alfano taking the silver in a close finish, David Sizemore the bronze, Brian Aragon in 4th, Chaz Sands in 5th, and Brian Shima in 6th after a battle of highly technical tricks and huge transfer lines over gaps on the course in the Finals jam session. The Men's Street Finals featured 13 skaters from the U.S., France, Switzerland, and Australia.

"My goal coming in was just that I wanted to make top 12, show people my stuff, and let everybody know I'm still in the game," says Morales. "It was crazy competition out here tonight and the level of skating in our sport has just progressed so far, so it's really honor to come out on top. I'm going to be celebrating tonight for sure."

Fabiola da Silva; first woman to take to the podium in event history

Inline Vert Finals Results in a Woman Making the Podium for the First Time in Event History
SEATTLE, Wash. (October 31, 2008) – The sixth annual LG Action Sports World Championships produced by ASA Entertainment (LG World Championships) thrilled a raucous Seattle crowd tonight at KeyArena with the Inline Skating Vert Finals and BMX Street Prelims.

With two high-flying, spectacularly consistent runs, Fabiola da Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil), the only woman competing against the men during any of the contests at the championships, flipped and grinded herself into third place – her highest finish ever in Inline Skating Vert at the LG World Championships against the men.

“I am so excited I almost started crying!” said da Silva. “I didn’t expect to make the podium.”

Joining Fabiola in the winners’ circle were Shane Yost (Lauceton, Tasmania), finding himself as the silver medalist for the second year in a row, and Marco de Santi (Sao Paulo), whose double-back flips and double-back flat spins pushed his scores through the 90.00 point mark to 91.25 and decisively secured him the gold medal. De Santi took home $12,500 for his win.

“I came here to do what I gotta do to win,” said de Santi to the crowd. “I did it in my first run, so I tried to go harder in my second run. It [the run] came out the same, so it’s all good.”.

Inline Vert Final Results:
1) Marco de Santi (Sao Paulo, Brazil), $12,500; 2) Shane Yost (Lauceton, Tasmania), $8,500; 3) Fabiola da Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil), $4,000; 4) Borja Fernandez (Bilbao, Spain); 5) Sven Boerkhorst (Den Bosch, Holland); 6) Thumper Nagasako (Maui, Hawaii); 7) Marc Englehart (Lansdale, Penn.); 8) Rich Parker (Glastonbury, England); 9) Matt Lindenmuth (Kutztown, Penn.); 10) Kevin Marron Lopez (Brussels, Belgium).
